The 2024 Toyota Corolla Gets a Shady Special Edition

The humble Toyota Corolla just received a design refresh last year, landing updates to its LED headlights as well as tweaks to the look of the front fascia and grille, with more minor changes around the body on most trims. Now that the base car has been updated, the special editions can have their turn. Enter the 2024 Toyota Corolla Nightshade edition, which darkens the look of the available Corolla sedan, hatchback, and now the hybrid model.

The new Corolla Nightshade edition will be available on the Corolla’s SE trim. The sedan and hatch SE sport a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 169 horsepower linked to a CVT, good for an estimated 34 to 35 MPG combined. The hybrid offers all-wheel drive based on a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder making a total of 138 hp with an electric motor powering the rear wheels when needed.

The special-edition package includes a unique sport mesh gloss black grille, blacked out Toyota badging front and back, black rear-view mirror caps, black side rocker panels, a lower rear diffuser, rear lip spoiler, and a blacked out shark fin antenna on sedan and hybrid offerings. The hatchback gets a roof-mounted vented black wing and black-painted roof for a two-tone effect. All Nightshade models get 18-inch bronze-finished wheels; check out the gallery of images below.

The sedan and hybrid Nightshade edition will feature either Midnight Black metallic, Classic Silver metallic, or Ice Cap white. The hatchback is available in Windchill Pearl with black roof, Classic Silver with black roof, or all Midnight black. Inside, Nightshade models get Sport seats with fabric inserts.

There also are a few available packages, namely an 800-watt JBL Premium Audio setup, and the SE Premium pack offers a powered moonroof, wireless phone charger, and improved safety with a blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite comes standard, which features pedestrian pre-collision detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure and tracing assist, and road sign assist. Toyota will announce pricing closer to the fall 2023 production date for the Nightshade models. In the past and on other Toyota vehicles, the Nightshade edition has been priced as an additional $700-$1,000 over MSRP for the standard car.
