No other gains 4,725 feet of elevation between start and finish, all within just 12.42 miles. Competing at Pikes Peak takes a purpose-built race car able to make big power even in the thin air at the top of the mountain, able to carry high speeds through the less twisty sections, and able to handle bumpy, winter-ravaged roads at triple-digit speeds.
